Counselling Services

I provide attachment focused Child, Youth, Family Therapy, Adult and Couples Therapy. I use the frameworks of Family Systems Theory and Attachment Theory to guide my clients on the path to optimal mental health and functioning. I have been providing counselling services and support since 2009. I have particular experience in the areas of adolescent mental health, addressing parent-child conflict and supporting adoptions and adoptive families.

I believe in the changes and improvements that can be achieved when issues are addressed through counselling and therapy. That change is exponential when achieved in childhood and I work with my clients on their journey towards this. Sessions can range from individual children, youth or adult to full family sessions.

Therapy can take the form of many therapeutic modalities including Narrative Therapy, Story Telling and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I have earned a Master of Social Work Degree and an Honours Bachelor Degree in Sociology and Psychology.

Beginning counselling is an act of courage. Whether you are navigating life transitions, healing from trauma, or seeking to strengthen your relationships, my role is to create a space where your story can be heard and honoured. I believe that our stories shape who we are, and that healing often begins when we can share them in a safe, respectful, and non-judgmental environment. I am a Qualifying Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA). I hold a Bachelor of Social Work with Honours from Carleton University and am currently completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology at Yorkville University. I bring 19 years of experience supporting individuals through times of change, challenge, and growth, and I draw on this background to create a compassionate, grounded, and collaborative counselling relationship. In our work together, I draw from narrative therapy, solution-focused approaches, mindfulness-based practices, strength-based approaches, and collaborative problem-solving, tailoring each session to your unique needs and goals. My experience includes supporting individuals facing anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship challenges, self-esteem concerns, and the lasting effects of childhood trauma. If you are ready to take the next step in your journey, I offer a compassionate, collaborative, and confidential space where you can explore, heal, and grow.

Seeking support to improve one’s quality of life is a sign of strength and determination. Addressing personal stressors, changing unhealthy habits, strengthening relationships, and processing difficult emotions and trauma are significant steps. As a counsellor, I provide a safe and confidential space for clients to reflect on their experiences, emotions, and thoughts.

My training includes trauma-informed care, attachment theory, strengths-based and solution-focused methodologies, and grief counselling. I have experience working with individuals, couples, families, adolescents, and children affected by trauma, childhood and domestic abuse, sexual violence, intergenerational trauma, and addiction. Currently, I focus on supporting adults and couples aged 18 and above.

I use a client-led, person-centred approach to help clients develop strategies for positive change, individually or in relationships.

Therapy involves understanding and interpreting experiences intellectually, but it’s also important to address the body’s responses. The body retains memories and needs guidance to slow down and identify internal states. My goal is to help clients gain clarity by recognizing and understanding their feelings and how they affect their bodies and relationships.

Reconnecting with your body, emotions, and senses is crucial for recovery. High stress can disrupt this connection and hinder communication and relationships. Healing is challenging, but achievable. I work with clients individually or as couples to restore balance. I empower clients by boosting confidence, improving well-being, and teaching practical coping strategies. I’m a Registered Social Worker with a Bachelor of Social Work degree. I’m pursuing a Master of Social Work and receive supervision from Diana Mitchell, MSW, RSW, SEP.
